Fed up
Well im 17 years old and have been living with hypochondria for 8 months. I have hypochondria almost every moment of the day and i always feel like im dying. Ive been to the doctors many times and they say there is nothing wrong at all but im convinced otherwise. My main hypochondria is HIV and i have been tested 12 times and came out Negative all 12 but my hypochondria consumes me and i get really scared. Honestly i wish that it would go away. Anyone have any tips?

Hello,I'm 17 and I suffer with this everyday, for 2 months now. I know exactly what you are going through. STDS are mainly the culprit of my worrying, and I am a 17 year old virgin who has never even kissed a boy,yet I think up any scenario possible that would allow me to catch one.
It is like you have absolutely no control over your mind.
I recently got tested for a list of diseases, including STDs and all came back negative. That was hardly enough comfort for me,and I thought, well, maybe they missed something, and they didn't test me for everything. I am now on a medication for short term anxiety until I go to see a psychiatrist in a few days.
I suggest you doing the same.It is hard because you think that you really have something wrong with you,and you should see a doctor instead of a psychiatrist, but really,it's the complete opposite. Give it a shot, and see how it goes for you.
Good luck hun!
Wow, I agree with Michelle. You need to see a Psychiatrist. Meds and talking do help. Think of how illogical you both are. If you have been tested 12 times for HIV, then you DON'T have it. If you aren't sexually active, then you DON'T have a std. Hypochodria is a horrible disease because it can make your life horrible. Doctors know what they are doing, trust them. Sure, there are no absolutes in life, mistakes are made, but with today's technology there are quite rare. Hypochodria can and will steal the enjoyment from your life. Get professional help as soon as possible and stop this nightmare. Time is precious, don't waste yours by worrying about nothing. Enjoy your life.
